Resizing Windows XP partition (sp2)
I really much wish to shrink my WinXP partition by 10 GB. Then I?d like to create an extended partition with three logical units of 2 GB each. These logical units will be formatted with FAT16. I will try to access them via a DOS bootable diskette and some tricks in config.sys and autoexec.bat . I know nothing of PM dual boot, and I probably won?t need it.
I have bought Norton PartitionMagic 8. I will disable System Restore and Norton Antivirus.
I don?t understand NTFS, primary partitions, volumes or extended partitions, but I grasp some of it.
I least of all want to make a major FU on my XP machine, but I need to take this step.
What are the caveats?
