save as pdf file

Running XP and Office 2003 and WordPerfect 12 — Having had problems with “corrupt” pdf files which I saved from Word and WordPerfect docs, I uninstalled the Acrobat reader and installed version 8.1. I now do not have option to “save as” or “publish to” the pdf format. Adobe helpline referred me to research their 2000+ questions and see if I could find my own answer!!! Help me, please.
