Select audio file in windows axplorer

What is happening is when I select a audio via windows explorer is freezes explorer for a lengthy period of time. It will come out of it after a couple of minutes. Seems like it is haveing a hard time finding out what do do with it. I had the same thing happen with video files and found out that was missing the shmedia.dll file. once replaced that it handle them fine. What is it that controls the audio files.
