Serial Number generation vb6 datareport

I need to get the serial number along with the query I use in the datareport. I do not store the serial number in any of my tables. The serial number should be a generated field used in the dataenvironment1, command1, sql option. The serial numbershould be listed for every record displayed in the detailed section of the data report.
