I have 2 questions actually. The server at work was just replaced with a new Dell one with 2000 as the operating system. Our company uses Outlook for more than e-mail. They use the feature where you can schedule meetings and send invitations or just check other people’s availability for meetings and even send tasks and contacts to each other. The problem according to our computer guys is that server 2000 does not support the protocol that outlook uses for these features. Any new user has to be set up with an internet mail account and cannot use the local office email. Does anyone know how this can be fixed, if it can be fixed, or any good suggestions for a replacement for outlook that has all of these features?
The second questiondeals with pcanywhere connecting to the individual computers in the office. Evidently server 2000 does not support pcanywhere either, because it has its own terminal services that it wants to use. The way I understand it, the users connect throughour hardware router to their individual computers, which our computer guys say is the only way to make it work, even for the couple of people that it does work on. Unfortunately, I do not know, what the errors the other people get, but need to findout. We are a small company running 95 and 98 workstations and cannot just go out and buy exchange and win 2000 for the workstations. Any ideas for being able to run any kind of connection program or a work around for the server 2000 issue with pcanywhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
