I’ve been charged with writing and implementing best practices for software inventory and asset management.
I’ve been searching for several days for unbiased information on this subject, but all that I’ve found is propaganda from folks like BSA.org, and self-serving white papers by companies that offer commercial solutions.
I was wondering if anyone knew of unbiased resources for creating best practices, and possibly templates for a database for tracking software through its lifecycle. We’ll eventually be using a solution for auditing, but first I need some good information for creating a good inventory, etc.
