Software Registration

Hello my name is Alexander T(classicmanpro)

I would like to get your opinion about an idea that’s been bugging me for sometime.
I have noticed that It’s very easy to aquire a pirated program and register it with someone else’s name.
I think that the companies that sell the program must supply an registration code based on the user’s name.
That way when you first start the program you will have to register by inserting the name and the code given by the company. The program takes the name, locally creates the code and compares it with the code inserted by you.If they match the program will be registered.
OK,now comes the best part.
Let’s say that an “inspection” comes to verify the user’s registration.
The Inspector will take the user’s code and give it to the company(wich will have a specially designed application for converting the CODE to NAME) wich will return the user’s registration name.
If the name checks out it’s good but if not WE GOT HIM.
Let’s say that the user hadan illegal program and the registration name returned by the company wasn’t his….then who’s name was it ?
We find the person and……start asking questions

That’s about it !
What do you think is this idea good or at least half good…?
Sorry if my english is a little rusty…
