Something beond my ken

by oldphart . Updated 21 years, 8 months ago

After a major overhaul of my cpu (upgraded power supply, improved cpu cooling much better cpu cooling system, increased airflow into case two 80mm case fans ducted to dump directly on cpu heat sink, upgradded video card from nvidia 100/200 32MB vram to BFG nvidia 5600 card with 256MB vram, and a usb 2.0 PCI card. I didn’t change the amd Altheon 1700+ cpu or the 256MB of SD ram. Now upon cold reboot the mother board beeps one long snd two short and refuses to boot. This just happens sometimes I han reboot ten times normaly and the eleventh it hangs up. Most times if I turn the power supply switch off wait a few seconds then switch it back on then mosst times it will boot normaly. The beep code suggests a video card problem and I’ve checked that out Ive also upgraded to the latest Bios. That cured a lot of other oddities but still the cold boot problems.
Thanks for the read and hopefully the help.
