Spam that Blows Up Outlook Express??

by nathan . Updated 22 years, 2 months ago

Lately I’ve hit a new e-mail problem with a couple of clients that I can’t seem to figure out. Halfway through POPing mail, a client’s Outlook or Outlook Express bombs out and fails the POP.

The problem seems to lie with spam that is being sent without a date field and/or a wrong size stamp. I know this because I can manually log into their webmail account and delete all messages without a date and they can POP their mail without any problem.

I spoke with the mail Czar at my web host who says that the problem is related to size of the spam e-mail being either blank or incorrectly reported. He says this blows up Outlook and OE. He said they have no solution and neither do our friends at Microsoft.

By the way, this problem is also shared by another client who uses a different web host, so I know the problem is not host-related.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? If so, how have you handled it? Any ideas???

Thanks.
Nathan
