SQL SERVER 2000 ; TABLE DATA TYPE

SQL SERVER 2000 Supports a new datatype called TABLE and according to the documentation, it says it could be passed as a parameter to a Stored Procedure. My question is How do we do that. Here the Calling program may be a C program or VB and how do they specify this parameter in the calling program.
