SQLServer2000 Installation;MDAC Failure

I am trying to install an instance of SQL Server 2000 onto a Windows 2000 Server which already has an instance of SQL Server 6.5 installed. I cannot complete the SQL Server 2000 installation because the MDAC portion of the installation fails. The message is; Installation of the Microsoft Data Access Components Failed (-1). I changed the install Media,Checked Logon ID’s and permissions, Stopped existing SQL services and checked the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Do you have any suggestions?
