Strange network behavior

by teufelhund . Updated 18 years, 6 months ago

I ran into this problem while attempting to download the JDBC Driver from jdbc.postgresql.org. I can make the connection and download fine from my home boxes, but the connection always times-out when I attempt to connect from work boxes (both Windows and Linux). I’ve bypassed the firewall (I’ve two separate external sets of IP addresses) and it still behaves the same.
The firewall is a SonicWall 2040 Pro with content filtering. The URL requested is not blocked by the content filter – it throws up an obvious message. Since I can access the URL from home using different browsers and OSes I assume that the content at the URL is served through the standard HTTP port. And since I can post this question it’s clear that I can access Web content.
What might be causing this behavior?
