Stupid question

My laptop is reading ‘plugged in, not charging’ so I may have to replace the battery. I figured out what model number my battery is, so I was wondering if the size of the laptop affects the size of the battery. That is, if the laptop has a bigger screen does the battery have to be physically bigger to fit?
