In Windows NT v4, you used to be able to remove the ?everyone? group from the ?Log on Locally? policy via User Manger as a security precaution.
However, when this is done in Windows 2000, you loose the capability of administering Active Directory as it somehow affects the Administrator login.
In order to rectify this situation, I have taken a look at the following Technet articles, to no avail.
?Access This Computer from the Network? User Right Causes Tools not to work ? Q257346
?Lookup of Permissions on ACL?s Shows only SID?s? ? Q262958
In my Application Event Log, I am receiving the following errors.
Source: Userenv
Event ID: 1000
Description:
The group policy client side extension Security was passed flags (17) andreturned a failure status code of (3)
Description: (same source and event ID)
Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. Return value (5)
Any assistance would obviously be greatly appreciated.
