Swapping Motherbords w/ NT 4.0

by rich.chrobak . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

I have not tried this yet, but am hoping someone can help me before I have to.

Let’s say I have an NT 4 server w/ SP6a as a PDC. One day, the MB goes out on me. I can’t find an exact replacement for the mb, either, so my only option is to get anew MB. I’ve been told that simply swapping out the MB even though retaining all PCI/ISA cards, processor, memory, etc will not work. 95/98 will automatically reload drivers if a MB swap occurs, but NT will continue trying to load old drivers. There has to be a way to swap MBs on an NT machine, whether by manually updating drivers or with a utility from Redmond or a third party, but how?
