Okay, I’m desperate and set the point value accordingly. 🙂
I’m running 5.1 at the main branch and 4.11 at the sub branches (bank). Each branch is self contained but linked through a 56k (gasp) frame-relay. I was recently hired and have no practical Novell experience. Here’s the problem:
1) I need to make identical (expect for the login names) copies of a user already in place. I’ve played with templates, but what I really want is to just create a new user by COPYing an existing one and renaming the login. Easy for all you CNEs, I hope!
2) (more difficult, I think) I’ve got 11 different sub-servers (seperate tree at each branch) and 1 main server. Let’s say the main server’s name is MAIN, and the branches are: BRANCH1, BRANCH2, etc…
When I: map r:=main/sys:
I get the typical login window. I don’t want this, but I also don’t want to create a hundred new users just so the branches can map to the server. Is there an easy way to create a user in the MAIN called..let’s say…”remotebranches” and then do something like this in each user’s login script:
map r:=main/sys: remotebranches Or at least something to that effect? My only other obvious choice is create bunches of users and then try tofigure out how to syncronize passwords (which I really don’t understand). Here’s what happens now: When I try to map r:=main/sys: in the login script, a SECOND login window appears with this in the login name: . You must understand.The second login confuses the snot out of the branch workers. They don’t understand, and honestly, I don’t think they should have to. Can’t I do something like I mentioned above to make this more user-friendly? THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
