Task Manager

I wanna ask about Task Manager under Performance Tab the CPU usage history reach 100%. What should I do to lower the CPU usage history it may cause my machine very slow. Is there any way or any services to stop with? By the way the running programs is Mozilla Firefox and Media Player and Im using AVG for anti-virus..I do hope expert form this site or forum can help me what shoul I do.
