TCP/IP in a Peer to Peer network

by fred c. tucker . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

I’m working with two computers using WIN98 SE. They are currently networked using NetBEUI protocol with Ethernet cards and crossover UTP cabling. The owner wants to use internet connection sharing with his ADSL connection. First I tried to changethe NetBEUI protocol to TCP/IP, however the computers wouldn’t talk to each other. IPX/SPX and NetBEUI work fine. In TCP/IP I assigned IP addresses, and I tried obtaining IP addresses automatically. I disabled DNS, I enabled DNS, I disabled DHCP,I enabled DHCP. So far – no luck. The ADSL software installed a PPPoE adapter (NTSP3) in the Network configuration properties – could this be causing me the trouble? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
