The best foundation

I have been involve with computers for a long time, and got away from it for a while, and I did a hard drive swap for a friend and notice the cabling had switch to sata, so I knew right then I needed to get back in full force, but I have taken a liking to networking and programming, even html because i want to be well rounded like most of you on here, and was wondering the best place to start.
