The optimal size of a pagefile

When a server has 4 GB of physical RAM and NT 4.0 TSE, what is the appropriate size for the pagefile? In its documentation, Dell did not specify why it chose 512 MB as the pagefile size for the server.
It does not matter how much disk space is available.
