trying to add an internal WD 1tb hard drive to a pc running Windows xp

Hi. I’m trying to add an internal WD 1tb hard drive as an extra drive to a 6 yr old Dell pc running Windows xp sp3, but it’s not showing up in explorer or device manager. Does anyone know if there’s anything I can do? Thanks in advance.
