Trying to Repair Win XP on laptop with USB keyboard

by cargus10 . Updated 16 years ago

I have a laptop with a damaged keyboard, so I use a USB keyboard & mouse. Am trying to repair Win XP SP2, and all is fine until it promots me for localization and for my product key. At that point, the USB keyboard and mouse stop working, and the primary keyboard is too damaged to enter the Product Key. How can I get the Win XP repair process to not unload the USB? I’ve tried using Shift+F10 to keep the command console open, but no luck there.
