I work for a company that has merged with two others, each with their own management/accounting/client software. I know we and one other are running 2k SBS, but we are not using the sql server or exchange server. I want to tie all three systems together but keep a redundant db in each. When a transaction occurs, it should update the other two servers at some point. All of us have DSL and most transactions would be local. Our website is minor since we are a distribution/service company and we sell only in specified territories in the southeast US. It is mainly for getting advanced brochures/info to clients. This is what I envision as a working network.
Each office has a server running the same software as well as maintaining a redundant db. If one fails, that office can rout to one of the other two. Each office will get a static IP and host their own mail server. At certain times, each server will query the other two and look for any db updates and update itself.
I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination on these kind of things. I am going to install 2k SBS on my home box to get used to it and I want to be the sys admin when it comes down to it. I just need some advice on where to start.
