Can someone please assist me in working out this head scratching problem?
I have a user who can’t print to one specific printer in our company (PR_Fin1)
This printer is shared out from our Windows NT server. This NT Server is only used as a print & file server.
When logged onto her own PC the user can see the printer is installed in printer & Faxes.
She can print to all other printers on the same Windows NT server. All printers on her PC appear as status ready apart from (PR_Fin1) wihch is either access denied or cannot connect.
Howerver, when i log into her PC as myself i can setup and print to the printer she is trying to print to. I can print as expected with no probs.
All other users in the company can also print to this printer no problems at all.
I have given her Local admin rights and she still can’t print to the printer.
When i logon to my PC under her profile and try to set the printer up on my PC she gets the same problem but again on my PC i can connect to the printer under my profile and print no probs.
1 – I have restarted the print spoolers.
2 – Added her into the Printer security groups with all the allow boxes checked.
3 – Made her a local admin
4 – I have reinstalled print drivers, although don’t think this is an issue either as i can print from the same PC’s
5 – I have reinstalled the printer
What am i missing here
PC’s i am trying this from are win2k and XP
Printer & driver is a HP4100n
P.s.
She could print ok to this printer before today and then when she started to print apparantly when she hit the print button it rebooted her PC.
I could see this being a dogy driver if it were isolated to one PC but why can’t she now access the printer from my PC?
Any help greatly appreciated
