Understand bind1st & bind2nd functions

The Jan. 20, C++ TechMail discusses the bind1st and bind2nd functions. Have you converted a binary functor (bf) to a unary functor (uf) using the bind1st and bind2nd functions? Have you used the bind1st and bind2nd functions when dealing with predicates?
