Upgrading SDRAM

I am running an AMD K6-2 450,128MB PC100 RAM,10GB,Windows 98SE.
I have tried every combination and way to upgrade memory.
128MB,32MB,64MB,
OEM,Premium,Mitsubishi,etc.
and memory only records at boot not once I am in Windows.
Why?
Does anyone know??
