Upgrading to Windows 10 with a new SSD

I have a new SSD, and am also upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10. What order should I do things in – should I first upgrade to Win10 on my old drive, and then do a clean install of Win10 on the new SSD? Or should I image the old drive onto the new SSD and then upgrade to Win10?

I’m taking this opportunity to clean up my computer and would prefer not to bring over all the junk that I’m sure has accumulated – can anyone refer me to a good guide for managing programs and files during the move?
