USB Transfer Speeds…

I?m wondering why my transfer speed on my Compaq Netbook maxes out at about 7MB/s-8MB/s?? I have an Atom N270 @ 1.60GHz, 1GB DDR2-800 RAM, 160GB SATA-II HDD, running Win7 Ultimate…My aunt has an HP Laptop I think with a Pentium 4 T4500 @ 2.60 Dual Core, 3GB DDR3-1033 RAM, 320GB SATA-II HDD, running Win7 Home Premium. Her Laptop USB Transfer speeds maxes out at @ 20MB/s… Why is her so fast?? Could it be that I?m using a USB Hub 2.0?? Or that by some odd miracle she has USB 3.0?? Or is it just that she has a good Laptop and I have a Netbook??
