Using net-lib instead of ADO?

I’ve seen where you could perform password masking–but have not seen password masking defined. What is password masking? Is it applying a bit mask of some sort?

Also, I have a requirement to encrypt all communication between a VB Client and a SQL Server 7.0 dbms. How can I migrate my VB client from ADO to multi-protocol net-lib?
