Using Sharepoint to Manage ITIL Change Management

I’ve been asked to implement a change management process for an organization. Does not use service management tool like remedy, they do use sharepoint for Team sites. Has anyone used Sharepoint to drive the change management process from Creating a request, approval and review? If so how is this done? Is reporting and auditing possible? Is there much development work required?
