Using Slave drive to copy files to Maste

Recently my HD went out on my 366 MHz 98SE, 64 MB PC. I was shipped a new PC and I want to copy all my files and programs from my old HD onto the new PC. If I do a copy *.* will this overwrite files on my new HD? Also will I get all my favorites of IE5 and other files placed in their correct directories?
