VBA and VB.NET

VBA and VB were closely joined at the HIP. Now, with VB.NET will VBA also change? In other words, will VBA sysntax and functionality remain as is (compatible with VB and the associated development) or will it change to the new language since VB.NET is dramitically different.
Could not really find any literature explaining this.
