VBscript and Netscape compatibility

I am interested in learning web site programming and I’m really interested in VBscript than javascript but my problem is Netscape Browser compatibility. Is there a way I can set my scripts to a cross browser platform?

2) Is there a way I can useVBscript at the server side and use a Netscape supported scripting language at the client side? If so what langusge can that be? Or do you think I should just go for javascript instead.

I will also be grateful if u can refer me to a site where Ican get this info.
