VBSCRIPT or JAVASCRIPT

Hi,

I am starting a development project to host an intranet application. We have planned to use ASP (active server pages) but not sure about which one out of VBSCRIPT or JAVASCRIPT to use. On a short term basis we plan to use VBSCRIPT. But for a long term I feel Javascript would be an ideal option given the reason that it is platform-free (at the cost of process-time). Which one out of these will provide a good performance in terms of resource usage?

Again given the choice between ASP and JSP, which one would you suggest on a long term basis?
