Version mismatch b/w vpn app and tunnel

I have a machine running Windows XP, that establishes a vpn connection with an external Novel server. I received an error message “A version mismatch exists between the vpn application and vpn tunnel…check for a valid vpn tunnel driver.” Any documentation or insight is greatly appreciated.
