Very very slow pc

Hello, for some time now I noticed my pc running slow, then it runs normal, only to slow right down again, I ran avg and ad-aware, found some trojans which were simply deleted or quarantined. However my pc is still not running as it should. I have win XP SP3. Does anyone have any suggestions?
