Vista + AtiveX = Knightmare

by dannysmith22 . Updated 18 years, 6 months ago

Hi Guys,

Using Vista 32-bit Home Premium Edition…

Having real issues with me mummas laptop! I won’t touch vista be she seems to love it, only one problem…she’s trying to use the www.itv.com web page to stream shows etc. All the components install fine, but theres 1 ativeX component that refuses to install, works fine on XP, even using IE7..but on Vista..nothing.

The site supports vista, I’ve read the documentation. I’ve tried;

Running IE7 specifically as administrator

Adding www.itv.com to “safe zone” and lower all of the security settings for that zone

Disabled the firewall

Tried to find the local copy in hope it caches it to the temp folder and run it manually, cant find it!

I’ve manually stopped the Windows Defender service…nothing…

I’m lost for idea, hoping its something really simple I’ve over looked…

Any ideas…willing to try anything right now!

Oh and I’ve tried FireFox (not compatable)

Cheers
