Visual Basic – Access 2000 connection

I have added a data control to a form and when i try to connect to my Access 2000 database, i receive an error message saying unrecognised database file format. Access 2000 is installed on my system however it does not appear in the Data1/properties/connect drop down list box. How can i get Access 2000 to appear here?
