What formula in excel do i need?

I am stuck!
When i type something in a cell eg. 1c, i need it to look at a block of cells, find the 1c in that block and then return the corrisponding number. so if i type 1c it will change to the number, say 3, that corrisponds in the legend.
I prob haven’t explained it very well
