When the I.T Manager gets involved with another department’s Manager

THis is the scenario.

I work in the I.T department and my manager got involved with the accounts department manager a few months ago. In our organisation, the chain of command for I.T is the C.E.O, the I.T Manager, the supervisor and the other I.T staff. I think the Idea here was to limit who we would have to answer to and who the decision makers were when it comes to the systems(Great Idea in my opinion).

Unfortunately from this newfound relationship the accounts manager now has a whole lot of input into I.T operations and the strictness with regards to her staff when it comes to the systems is now slowly but surely diminishing.

Has this ever happened in your organization? What do you think about this?
