where to download HP printer drivers – JUST the drivers

Does anyone have any ideas where I might find drivers for HP printers? I mean JUST the drivers, several device manufacturers allow the download of just drivers, why not HP. They seem to be under the impression that I want their software on my computer that forces its way into startup and decides that it needs to update all the time, even though ALL I want to do is print. Is it just me or does this bug the bejeezus out of anyone else. Sure there’s other manufacturers, but I have yet to spend 30 minutes downloading “drivers” (on a T1) with anyone else.
