which internet speed makes more sense?

i’m not sure this is the right place to ask. i’m confused on how they differ besides the wiring? how does 1 mps of cable internet compare to 1mps of fiber internet? like what is that ratio like? i have been conflicted between which kind of internet i should get to meet my needs because i’m not sure i am understanding here. i currently have 600mps cable internet but have been offered 50mps fiber for $20 less at another company. i wfh, game, and stream on multiple devices. and decided on keeping the 600mps but i guess i’m just second guessing it
