why XP automatically duplicate local drive?

My window XP automatically duplicates the c drive recently periodically and labels them using all the letters. Then my USB drives will not be reorganized by the window. I suspect it is infected by a virus or malware. But I used several software to check it, and did not find any. Anyone has experience on it? Please help.
