Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and honestly couldn’t stop myself from bringing it here.
We keep hearing two very different stories. One side says AI is coming for our jobs — lawyers, accountants, developers, marketers — nobody is safe. The other side says relax, AI is just a tool, it’ll create more jobs than it destroys.
But which one is actually true?
Here’s what got me thinking. Australia just saw a wave of AI-driven white-collar layoffs while their overall unemployment rate stayed low. So on paper the economy looks fine — but underneath, something is clearly shifting. Real people with real careers are being displaced.
And it’s not just Australia. Big names like Microsoft, Salesforce, and Ford are openly saying AI is already handling a massive chunk of professional work. Entry-level hiring in tech and admin roles has dropped noticeably. Young professionals are finding it harder to even get a foot in the door.
But here’s the part I keep coming back to — AI still struggles with judgment calls, ethical decisions, client relationships, and creative thinking. Those are still very human strengths.
So my honest take? AI isn’t just replacing jobs OR reshaping them. It’s doing both at the same time — and the difference between who survives it and who doesn’t might just come down to how fast they adapt.
I’d genuinely love to hear from this community:
Has AI already changed your day-to-day work?
Are you worried about your role in the next 2–3 years?
Do you think companies are being honest about why they’re downsizing?
