Will Software Engineering will ever reach the Level of Classical Engr’ing?

Considering that Classical Engineering is been in practice from decades and if we compare Software Engineering it is relatively new. Lots of work still going on if we speak of Software Engineering.
What I would like to know,

-What needs to be done to achieve the same level as of Classical Engineering?
-Will the introduction of standards will help Software Engineering to reach same level quickly?

To what I understand is, if we start introducing and start agreeing on the Standards, then we surely can reach the level of Classical Engineering.
