Win 95 hangs up w/Sound Card plugged in

by agyedu.md . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

Have dual boot Win 95/NT system that boots up with no problem in Win 95. With Soundblaster card plugged in (after plug and play installation) sound card works great. However, when the system is reboot (or turned back on at any time after shut off), it hangs up in win 95. This problem happened before Win NT install. Going into autoexec.bat mode reveals a first line added to the autoexec.bat file thus “SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 P330 E620 T6 which happens to be the Sound Blaster 16 Environmental variable specifying the base I/O address, IRQ line and DMA channnels of the audio interface. When I “rem” or delete that line, plug the sound card back in it works perfect until shut off.
Have tried more than five times to delete the sound card files and reinstall, but no luck. Have checked Device Manager for counflicts, but none seem to exist. Any help? Thanks in advance
