Win95 won’t boot, missing .dll

by garyjsmither . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

I’m running Win95 on a computer from home (my moms). I’ve just bought this computer so I don’t have much history. I know it is a 200mhz Compaq with 2 hard drives. The C:drive was absolutely choking with less then 1% of about 2 gigs unused. The D:drive also about 2 gigs was practically empty. It was a corporate orphan.

My problem is:
1.) I deleted some file with Symantic corp files in them and now the Win95 is still looking for a dll that is gone and will not load after that brick wall. I do know that I can run in safe mode. I am comfortable snooping around in the registry with Regedit. Hey its broke right! Got any suggestions?

2.) Could I reload from a Win95 software disk to boot from D: and access my MS office software onC: from there? Is this a good strategy?

Thanks in advance,
