Win98 Internet

I have Windows 98 recently reinstalled, withing the past 2 days. I have tried two modems, one of which I know works because it was pulled from another computer. Here’s the problem…I can connect to the internet through Dial Up, or at least it says it is connected, but any browser I use will not display a page. I have tried I.E. (5.0 and 5.5), Neoplanet, and Netscape Nav. I also can not use any instant messangers. I have tried two different ISP’s, and although it says it is connected I am not sure.Any help would be appreciatted.
