Win98SE periodically hangs on shutdown w

by cory . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

When drives are mapped on Win98SE, shutdown hangs frequently (not always). When I remove the maps, the computer has no problems shutting down. I have tried everything Microsoft and Others list for shutdown resolution, installed the shutdown supplement, updated ALL drivers, even regressed drivers to older versions, removed everything not used, changed NICs, Video cards, etc. The only resolution I’ve found is to disconnect all network drives. As you can imagine, that is not acceptable. Has anyone found a resolution for this situation? The config list follows:

ABIT BH6 Motherboard with newest bios,
Intel PRO100+ management adapter (tried others),
ATI Xpert 98 AGP Video,
Yamaha 3D soundcard,
PIII 450 or 500
13GB HD
64MB RAM
Win98SE w/ shutdown supplement
Connecting to WinNT 4.0 SP6a
Intel 10/100 switch
Certified CAT5E

Thank You in Advance!
