Windows 2000 – IPC$ Spoof

by gonzo2 . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

Heads up on this…
According to Microsoft, Windows 2000 disables the Guest account by default (NT4 has it enabled by default).
Result is that a “new” Windows 2000 install introduced into a network will greet each peer with a spoof message about IPC$ UID and PWD. The fix is to enable Guest on the Windows 2000 machine.
